For the last two years my roommate, Kevin, has been trying to grow a garden and until this year has pretty much failed. He was planting things at the wrong time of the year, but he's got it down now.
Previously he had been trying to grow things in the summer, like up north. Now, in the winter he's moved most of the garden to the front of the house.
He has various kinds of tomatoes, eggplant, a variety of lettuces and we have been having some of the best salads imaginable. And the tomatoes are fantastic. You've forgotten what a REAL tomato tastes like eating that plastic imitations from the supermarket.
